In Case of Loss or Theft of Original PAN Card

How to Request For A Duplicate PAN Card?

Step 1: You should lodge a complaint immediately at the nearest police station if you are unsure whether you have lost or misplaced your PAN card or if it’s stolen. Getting a copy of the FIR or acknowledgement is necessary to keep you out of trouble in case your PAN card is used in fraudulent or unlawful activity. 

Step 2: Visit an NSDL or PAN TIN Facilitation centre near you. Send a letter requesting a new PAN card to the Income Tax Department along with Form 49A. In addition to the form, carry a passport-sized coloured photograph, proof of identity, address proof, and a copy of the police report.

Step 3: Fill out the form carefully, otherwise, it might get rejected. To complete the application, you must paste your passport-sized photo in the top right corner of the form. Make sure that you have signed the photo as well. 

Step 4: Once you have completed the form, you must attach a cheque or DD (Demand Draft) for the payment and the abovementioned documents. Mail the form and required documents to the PAN head office at the following address:

Methods To Apply For A Duplicate PAN Card

The Income Tax Department receives hundreds of applications for duplicate PAN cards daily. In case of theft, damages, or if the original PAN card is lost, you can always apply for a duplicate PAN card as a replacement. The Income Tax Department allows you to apply for a PAN card online and offline. You can visit the official website of TIN-NSDL or UTIISIL and fill out the required form. You will also need to provide some supporting documents, such as a copy of your original pan card and a copy of your ID proof. 

Once you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation email. Once confirmed, the Income Tax department shall process your application and dispatch your duplicate PAN card within a few days. Step 13: Additionally, you can select between a physical copy of a PAN card or an e-PAN card. If you choose an e-PAN card, provide your email address. You will receive your e-PAN in the email provided.

Step 17: You can make the payment via debit or credit card, net banking, or demand draft.

You can apply for a duplicate PAN card by visiting the NSDL facilitation centre. Go through the steps stated below to use the same through offline mode:

Step 1: Visit the official website of TIN-NSDL.

Step 2: Download and print ‘Request for New PAN Card and Changes or Correction in PAN Data.’

Step 3: Fill in the form in BLOCK letters.

Step 4: Mention your ten-digit PAN for reference.
