How to Link Aadhaar with SBI Bank Account?

Aadhaar card details are required while opening the new SBI account. However, existing SBI account holders can choose to form multiple ways to link Aadhaar to a bank account SBI

The State Bank of India allows customers to link their Aadhaar details with their account through internet banking, mobile banking app, SMS services, and ATMs. We have covered all of them below. 

Online SBI Account-Aadhaar Linking Process Through SBI Website/ Internet Banking Portal

If your SBI internet banking facility is activated, you can follow the following steps to link your Aadhaar number with your SBI Bank account online or by visiting SBI official website:

Step 1: Visit the SBI’s official portal and log in using your internet banking credentials. 

Step 2: Navigate to the “My Accounts” section on the menu bar and click on the “Update Aadhaar with Bank account” option. 

Step 3: The new page will open. Select the Account number, enter your Aadhaar number and click on the ‘Submit’ button. 

Step 4: The screen will display the last two digits of your registered mobile number, which is non-editable. 

Step 5: The mapping status will be declared on your registered phone number. 

Note: If you don’t have an active internet banking facility, you can also initiate the process using your ATM cum Debit Card details. 

How to Link Aadhaar with Account Using SBI Mobile App

If you operate your SBI accounts through SBI YONO/SBI YONO Lite mobile application, you can link your Aadhaar number with your SBI bank account online through the app. The process is quite simple, and the mapping would be completed instantly. 

The following are the steps to link your SBI Bank account with your Aadhaar number using the SBI YONO app:

Step 1: Log into your SBI YONO app using the credentials or 5-digit MPIN (Mobile PIN)

Step 2: Navigate to the ‘Quick Links’ section and click on Service Request. 

Step 3: The Service Request page will open. Find the ‘Aadhaar’ option and click on it.

Step 4: Then click on Aadhaar Linking.

Step 5: Furnish the mandatory fields, including your 12-digit Aadhaar number. 

Step 6: You will receive a message declaring that your request has been processed and your Aadhaar number and bank records have been linked successfully. 

How to Link Aadhaar with Bank Account at an SBI ATM?

In case you don’t have access to internet banking or mobile banking, but you have an active SBI ATM cum Debit Card, you can link your Aadhaar Card to your SBI bank account at an SBI ATM. The steps for the same are as follows:

Step 1: Visit your nearest SBI ATM.

Step 2: Swipe or insert your ATM cum Debit Card and enter your ATM PIN. 

Step 3: The screen will display the ‘Menu’ tab where you have to choose the ‘registrations’ option and then select ‘Aadhaar Registration. 

Step 4: You will be now asked to choose from various options, including Savings, Current, or Checking. Choose whether your bank account type is Savings or Current. 

Step 5: You will be directed to a new page where you must enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number twice for verification. 

Step 6: Your SBI account will be linked to your Aadhaar number. You can expect a confirmation message on your registered mobile number stating that your account has been successfully linked to your Aadhaar. 

The Process to Link Aadhaar with SBI Account Offline at a Bank Branch

If you want to avoid all the above processes and would like the Bank to do it for you, then visit the nearest SBI branch. Ensure that you carry your e-Aadhaar or Aadhaar card with you. Fill up the ‘Letter of Request’ and submit the application form and a copy of the Aadhaar letter. 

After scrutinising your application form and Aadhaar details, the SBI branch will link your SBI bank records with your Aadhaar number. Also, it will send you the mapping status through an SMS on your registered mobile number. 

Steps to Link Aadhaar Card with SBI Bank Account Through SMS

An alternative way to link your SBI account with your Aadhaar number is through SMS. Nevertheless, you must note that you can avail of this facility only if your mobile number is registered with the bank. Proceed with the following steps to link your account through SMS:

Step 1: Use your registered mobile number to create an SMS in the following format:

UID<space><Aadhaar Number><Account Number>

Step 2: Once you have crafted the message, send it to 567676.

Step 3: The process will automatically and instantly link your SBI account number to your Aadhaar number. 

Step 4: If your number is not valid or there’s any error, the bank will notify you through SMS.
